Butch Halpin, Hall of Fame DJ
Carolina Sounds Beach Show
Dunn, NC
In 2012 Butch was inducted into the Beach Music Radio Hall of Fame.
In 2013 he was inducted into the Carolina Beach Music Hall of Fame. Butch began DJ'ing after graduating from high school in 1976 to make some money for college and have some fun along the way. Little did he know then that he'd still be at it today and be as involved in the music industry as he is. (And he wanted to be a teacher)
He has served as MC and/or DJ for numerous events, including the 1994 "Original Georgia Prophets Reunion" with Billy Scott, Barbara Scott Goudy & Janet Helm, North Tower Band's 30th & 40th Reunions, Lost in Paradise Beach Blast 1 & 2, Boogie on Broad / Dunn Chamber of Commerce Concert Series, Arbor Day Festival in Norwood, NC, NC Cotton Festival in Dunn, NC, The Tams' Bahama Cruise commemorating Little Redd's 40 years in Beach, Charleston Beach Music & Shag Festival, and other various beach music concerts, fundraisers, CD Release Parties and numerous CBMA events. He was also tapped to be the MC and opening act for the Americana Tour featuring Gospel Music's award winners, The Dove Brothers along with The Carolina Soul Band.
In 1989 after working with or for others in the DJ business, he struck out on his own with a loan from the bank to buy out his business partner. The two-year note was paid off in 18 months! That was the creation of Carolina Sounds Entertainment and two months later, The Carolina Sounds Beach Show on WLLN-AM in Lillington, NC. WLLN changed formats and the show wound up on WBZB-AM in Selma, NC where it aired for several years on Saturday afternoons. After leaving WBZB, Butch was off the air for a couple of years but stayed busy in the mobile and club DJ business.

Dale Jordan, DJ
The Silver Fox - "LIVE" Lunch Time Show
Myrtle Beach, SC
I started DJing 25 years ago with a large system with big speakers and so many cords and amps it took a trailer to carry everything. I have always enjoyed music as a kid and always love the oldies & Beach Music.
I have DJ at many of the places at the Beach Landmark, Beach Cove , Crown Reef, VFW in Murrell Inlet, Saltys Pub, and other places in the Beach area. I would guess over the years I have DJed over 200 Events including Weddings and birthday parties and many other events. If you love what you do you never work a day in your life.

Born and raised in Martinsville, Va. in 1954, I was the 10th of 10 in my family. When I was born, I already had 4 nieces and nephews!
Being the youngest, there were 10 years between my closest sibling and myself. So, my nephews and nieces were more like brothers and sisters to me. While my Mom and most of the family listened to country music (or Lawrence Welk. -Mom), as I became a teenager, I was drawn to Soul, R&B, and some Bubblegum Beach. Later it would be Deep Purple, The Stones, and rock. But, I never lost that R&B vibe.
My first taste of MCing was at our “Senior Assembly” in high school. I improvised and impressed students and teachers I didn’t even know! I knew I was onto something!
DJing started in 1977 in Danville, Va. I was a mobile DJ with a carpeted van carrying large equipment. One night I stopped in a hotel that had a band. The hotel had a club called The Black Horse Cellar. During a band break, I heard the owner complaining about the band taking too many and too long breaks. He couldn’t sell beer if the band wasn’t playing. I introduced myself and told him “I don’t take breaks “. Long story short, I started the next Saturday night and kept playing for six months. From there we moved to The Kings Lounge, and a vote of being the #1 DJ in Danville. I was hired away to a new club starting called T.E.s (The Tobacco Exchange). At each stop I played Disco, R&B, and Beach. My final stop before going into music retail was a Holiday Inn.
Fast forward to 1994 and a move to Louisville with my company. There I found Derby City Bop and became a DJ there, while still doing mobile. 29 years there and DJing for various 3 day events has taught be the blues in a big way. Blues Bop, Shag, Beach, and West Coast have kept be in my ties looking for new music on a constant basis, without losing sight of the music that made us.
I’m thrilled to continue that search at Back to the Beach Radio and appreciate the opportunity provided by Rock Hall.

Trish Sessoms
Director of Marketing
Myrtle Beach, SC
Hello Everyone!
I’m originally from High Point, NC, and my lifelong dream was to live at the beach. As a Shagger, I often visited Ocean Drive and eventually got to know Harvey Graham, the Co-Owner of H’s. One night, out of the blue, he asked me if I’d ever considered selling radio advertising. He told me he saw something in me, having watched my energy at the club. I had no idea what he meant at the time, but I was intrigued!
In June of 2003, my dream came true when I joined 94.9 The Surf (WVCO), and my life was forever changed. Living at the beach turned out to be even better than I imagined, and I thrived at the station. Within a year, I became the Director of Sales and got involved in nearly every aspect of the station—remotes, voicing commercials, hiring, troubleshooting, you name it! At the same time, I also became involved with the Carolina Beach Music Awards Program, working on ad sales and promotions.
After over 21 years at The Surf, I branched out into other advertising avenues, including other radio stations, magazines, and brochures. Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to build lasting friendships with countless artists and clients, many of whom have become lifelong friends.
Now, fast forward to January 2025, and I am thrilled to be part of the amazing team that Rock has put together. The opportunity to work alongside such talented individuals is truly the icing on the cake. Music has always been my lifeline to happiness, and I couldn’t be more excited about watching Back To The Beach Radio grow and thrive!
If you’d like to learn more about how your business or event can become a sponsor on our station, feel free to email, text, or message me. Let’s make it happen!

Pat Murphy
Director of Fan Club
Liverpool, England
Pat Murphy was born in London in the 1950s, immersed in the vibrant sounds of 60s and 70s British music. The influences of legendary bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones filled her upbringing with rhythm and excitement. She vividly remembers the thrill of tuning into Radio Luxembourg and the notorious pirate radio stations, such as Radio Caroline, which boldly broadcasted rock, blues, and pop music around the clock from international waters. The atmosphere of the times was undeniably fashionable, characterized by mini-skirts, platform shoes, and the iconic styles of Twiggy and Biba on Carnaby Street. Throughout her life, Pat ventured into various professions across the UK and Europe, including teaching, computing, and administration, all while raising a family. After a fulfilling career, she has recently retired from her role in police forensics, ready to embark on new adventures. Pat is the founding member of the Ladies of the Swarm. You'll have to ask her yourself what that means. :)
